Addressing Substance Use Disorders and Behavioral Addictions with EMDR Therapy
Workshop Goals and Objectives linked to EMDR Phases of Treatment
Through the use of demonstration, case presentation, lecture and video clips, this workshop explores the use of EMDR in the treatment of chemical dependency and other addictive/compulsive behaviors—specifically with clients who are not yet abstinent. This treatment focused workshop teaches you how to stabilize clients and desensitize addiction memory networks without triggering increased substance use or relapse.

And the things people have said
“This was literally one of the best, if not THE BEST training I have been to in a long time. Hope, you are truly brilliant! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!” Online Webinar 2022
This program was excellent. The content was clearly presented and new information was reinforced with examples , practice and review. Each aspect of the work built upon the understanding of the former concept presented. The availability and quality of the handouts and outline was a plus! I feel empowered to practice in a new way and to explore more learning about the treatment of addictions. Hope Payson is a wonderful presenter! She is knowledgeable, thoughtful in her responses to questions, and aware of the learners needs Thank you for a great learning experience! Online Webinar 2022
“This was one of the best organized and informational trainings I have attended. I appreciate the practicum and how you laid everything out for us to use in practice immediately. Thank you Hope-you are inspiring!” -Online Webinar 2020
“Hope is an outstanding communicator thanks to her organized mind and wry sense of humor. Her presentation style is especially natural, and she takes great care to inject variety into the overall two-day structure—moving seamlessly from demonstration, to videos, to guest presenters, etc.—ensuring participants remain engaged throughout. Hope has a real gift for doing this work.”-Online Webinar 2020
“I have been to many trainings and workshops for EMDR Clinicians and this was by far the best. Well prepared and I can use what I learned right away.” – New Jersey 2019
“Both Hope and Kate were willing to teach, not just from their successes, but from their mistakes/missteps. This willingness to demonstrate expertise and vulnerability is such a powerful combo and tends, in the modeling, to infuse more clinical and personal confidence in the learner.” -DC 2019
